DAR students begin new fundraiser

In January 2011, fifteen Dar al-Rahman students established a student organization dedicated to supporting their school through school fundraisers and other important projects.  Three years later, their Student Council is flourishing as it expands its lunchtime snack shop to include a new and delectable treat: fresh-popped, delicious popcorn.

“For several years, we’ve sold chocolates, chips, juice, ice cream, and a range of other delicious snacks, all to raise money for future projects,” commented one Student Council member.  “Now, we’ve used that money to purchase a popcorn machine and make delicious, hot popcorn to help raise money for our school while providing a great snack for other students.” Continue reading

DAR begins 2013–2014 school year

DAR’s five branches across the Los Angeles area are preparing to begin their fall classes in the coming days.  DAR Glendale is leading the way and starting its school year on Friday, September 6, and DAR Chatsworth — Saturday will begin the fall term on September 7.  DAR Chatsworth — Sunday and DAR West LA will both start the school year on September 8.

DAR Santa Clarita is to begin its fall term on Saturday, September 7, and dozens of students are enrolled to participate in the first day of school.  DAR Santa Clarita, conveniently located minutes from many Santa Clarita neighborhoods, will work to provide a high-quality Islamic/Arabic weekend school to students in the ever-growing suburbs of the Santa Clarita Valley.
